And it starts. We don't have cable in our house. I know, I know. Feel sorry for me. Daytime television is more punishment than entertainment most days. Last week,as I oscillated between Maury's paternity nightmares and the less trashy alternatives, I stumbled upon Dr. Oz. His guest was Dr. Ian Smith--creator of a number of effective diet plans, the most recent being SHRED. I'm not usually one for diet programs--no carbs, all carbs, juice diet--arrggg! Forget the extreme diets. I just want something healthy. Listening to Dr. Ian for a bit, I was sold. Where do I sign?
Apparently this is the wrong time of year for purchasing a bestselling diet book. The woman at B&N wished me luck in finding it and she was correct. Not a single B&N store in Houston had it in stock. Dejected, I decided I would just need to wait for Amazon to deliver it. You win, bookseller lady. BUT THEN!! TARGET SAVES THE DAY! There he was. Dr. Ian Smith. Smiling up at me. I was meant to have it.
And so Chris and I began the program today. Employing the concept of muscle confusion to nutrition, this plan is kooky. 4 meals and 3 snacks a day is a departure from my normal eating habits, but it also changes the types of foods I eat. The reviews and results have been impressive and I'm looking forward to seeing how it works for me.
Like all good diet programs, SHRED incorporates a workout component. Perfectly timed, Santa Everett brought me the TurboFire program for Christmas (I was such a good girl this year!). I have been DYING to try this program. Love Beachbody. Love high intensity training. LOVE CHALENE! (Maybe I can attend the summit in Vegas and meet her? Hmm? Yes please!)
So today is day 1. I had my breakfast at 9 am and its almost time for my first snack :) AND I have to get my workout in before Parenthood tonight...Yay!
<3 Stephanie
